What Are Polymers?
Our polymers are site-specific environmentally friendly anionic polyacrylamides that come in two different forms; a semi-hydrated log and a granular powder. They consist of over 60 different blends designed to be specific for the chemistry of each site's water and soil.
SOME APPLICATIONS FOR POLYMER PRODUCTS ARE:
WATER CLARIFICATION
- Using Water Lynx Improving water quality to meet discharge requirements to the environment or otherwise.
- Clarifying process water for reuse.
- Removal of sediment from surface water drainage to discharge to storm sewer systems
DISSOLVED METAL CONTROL
Water Lynx polymer blocks and granular powders contain non-toxic anionic polyacrylamides that coordinate with metals to control environmentally problematic metal values in storm water runoff, mine closures, reclamation operations, and construction sites as long as some turbidity is present.
EROSION CONTROL
- Soil Lynx application to raw soil causes the positively charged particles to bind to the long, negatively-charged, polymer chains; this reduces the solubility of soil components.
- Along with reducing dissolution of soil components, the granular powder forms a microscopic web of polymer fibres, this holds the soil together and in place through wind and rain.
DUST CONTROL
Utilizing Soil Lynx in water when spraying the surface dramatically reduces the frequency of rewatering and traps moisture on the surface. This reduces water consumption, man and equipment hours and application frequency by as much as 80%.
SOIL SOLIDIFICATION
The addition of Soil Lynx to soil slurries or sediment will solidify the material enabling on-site disposal or clean off-site transportation.
RESEEDING / LANDSCAPING / AGRICULTURE
Soil Lynx can be spread on soil, erosion fabrics, or mixed with hydroseed to act as a tackifier. Results are superior tackifying, binding seed and/or fertilizer to the soil keeping the soil surface porous and breathable, as well as allowing 30% more moisture penetration. This then aids a homogeneous and robust vegetation growth cycle with little chance of having to re-seed.
STOCK PILES
Whether composed of overburden, ore, coal, soil, sand, gravel, or dirt, Soil Lynx protects the exposed material from migration caused by wind and rain through a network of microscopic fibres. This eliminates dust clouds and highly turbid runoff waters.
HELICOPTER LANDING PADS
Application of Soil Lynx to helicopter landing areas, drastically reduces the amount of dust kicked up by down-wash. Reducing dust clouds prevents dangerous brown-out conditions for pilots, and reduces maintenance costs associated with dust intake.
